The Bruntal Chateau with an arcade courtyard surrounded by the adjacent park belongs among the most important historical sights of Bruntal. The history of the chateau dates back to the 2nd half of the 15th century when the chateau was founded by the Lords of Vrbno. It was later rebuilt to a pretentious Renaissance chateau with a non-traditional circular sector ground plan. It gained the present appearance through a late Baroque reconstruction which preserved the Renaissance arcades at the courtyard and clock tower. Thus, a unique connection of the Renaissance and the Baroque styles came into existence.
