Bucovice Chateau is a four-wing Renaissance castle with a beautiful courtyard and valuable Mannerism style fountain. Compared with most of Czech renaissance chateaux it is not a mere renaissance-style conversion of an older residence (castle or fortified settlement), but a realization of original project for a late-renaissance “palazzo in fortezza” style of building. The castle construction begun in 1567 in place of former stronghold. Thanks to its beautiful interior and lavish stucco decorations it was in its time one of the most beautiful buildings in Moravia.
