Czech Potato Goulash

Czech name: Bramborový guláš

This meal is very enjoyable to cook as well as to eat. It is a variant of classical goulash which is made from beef in the Czech Republic. In this meal, we are going to use smoked pork sausage. In addition, potatoes are added. This meal is very tasty and nutritious.

Ingredients

3/4 lb smoked sausage
1 1/4 lb potatoes
3 garlic cloves pressed
2 chopped onions
1 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
ground black pepper to taste
1/2 Tbs paprika
4 cups water
1 tsp caraway seed
1 tsp marjoram
3 Tbs all-purpose flour
1 1/2 Tbs oil
1 beef bouillon cube (optional)

Instructions

Cut sausage and potatoes into small pieces. Heat the oil. Add chopped onion and fry until golden brown.
Add sausage, paprika, garlic and caraway seed mix well, add potatoes, salt, and water. Add cube beef bouillon (optional).

Make sure that liquid is about 1/2 inch above potatoes (add more water if necessary).
When the mixture starts to boil lower temperature, let simmer uncover for 30-40 minutes.

Then use flour to thicken the goulash and stir well.

Taste and adjust seasoning according to your preference with salt and pepper.

You may garnish with chopped parsley. Serve with rye bread.
