Goulash Soup

Czech name: Gulášová polévka

Goulash soup is very popular in the Czech Republic and has become a traditional Czech meal. Also, it’s often cooked by children in summer camps or when camping. It is also one of the most common soups served in Czech restaurants and Pubs. This soup is perfect the year-round, and is also perfect as an after party snack!

Ingredients

1 1/2 lb cubed stewing beef
1 large onion
3 large potatoes
8 slices bacon
1 Tbs ground paprika
1 Tbs all-purpose flour
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 stalks celery, diced
marjoram, salt, and ground black pepper to taste
1 Tbs oil
4 cups hot water

Instructions

Slice the bacon and peeled potatoes into small pieces. Fry the bacon in a medium size pot with oil then
add the chopped onion and the beef. Fry until brown for about 4 minutes.

Add pepper, salt, sliced potatoes, minced garlic, diced celery, and cook it for 5 minutes. Add the flour and stir well let it rest for 2 minutes.

Then add the water and stir in the paprika, bring to a boil and cook for 15 minutes, add chopped celery and marjoram to taste. It should be a thick stew.

You can eat it with slices of bread and garnish with sliced onion and parsley.
